"Shri Ram" - Words with Devotion: Shruti Joshi

Expressions like "Hey Ram," "Ram Ram sa," and even "Ram he satya h" at the time of death are common.

Have you ever wondered why Ram is so prevalent today, unlike Ganpati, Shiva, Shani, Vishnu, or the numerous other deities in India?

Have you ever considered why you follow Shri Ram?

Let’s explore this.

Shri Ram is a figure who prioritised politics above all else. This means everything—whether it's love, respect, family, society, development, safety, empowerment, or education—was secondary to his political duties.

Ram devotedly adhered to political principles. As a king, he did everything to excel in his role. He understood he was born with the qualities of a king, making him suited for politics. He committed himself fully to fulfilling his responsibilities and justifying his position.

Personal sacrifices, including emotional bonds and relationships, were not prioritised over political duties or the values of kingship.

His relationship with Hanuman serves as a prime example of a good politician—being amiable to all while doing what is right as a politician or "king."

Now, imagine a family of politicians who experience joy or suffering due to one member adhering to certain values.

Yet, shouldn't you learn from this family member to follow your values instead of living by someone else's values?

This is what I learn from RAM: to follow my values for my purpose on earth. I also learn from the stories of Ganpati Bappa, Shiv Parvati, and figures like Abdul Kalam, Mother Teresa, Swami Vivekananda, and anyone who helps me become a better version of myself.

So, returning to the question, why do we follow Ram? I wonder if everyone aspires to be a KING, then who are the subjects of your kingdom?

You are born with specific traits and qualities to complete your task, not to follow someone else's path. Respect and love them, but don't compromise your values. You are born an individual and will die alone. Your karma should align with your values.

It's okay if you find yourself as the best servant, nurse, mother, guardian, mentor, survivor, human being, employee, or leader. In any situation, remember like RAM, you are born to do what you love and enjoy, a task you will never regret.

Follow yourself. (Your inner self)
